The highlight of 2012 has to be our once-in-a-lifetime performance at the Paralympics Closing Cerermony. The games inspired and exhilarated audiences, by breaking down barriers and perceptions of what disability is. Being part of an iconic moment in history was an exultant experience. We will continue to strive to raise the bar for prodigiously gifted musicians with disabilities and hope that Rio 2016 proves to be bigger and even better.
Playing to a global audience of over half a million generated a thrilling response from supporters across the world. A personal thanks to all of you who contacted us with your generous and heartfelt messages.
Jon Snow, Channel Four Broadcaster described it as “One of the very biggest cheers of the night for the Paraorchestra's rendering of the Paralympic anthem, spell binding and beauteous......what a shop window for the orchestra's future!”
“The honour and pleasure was all ours. We all thought that the Strawberry Swing collaboration was the musical highlight of the night. And so did most of the critics. Your arrangement was beautiful and the orchestra performed it with pathos and artistry. Please pass on the band's great appreciation to the Paraorchestra for giving us a moment we'll never forget. Very best for all your future endeavours” Phil Harvey (Manager, Coldplay).
