Snape Maltings Proms, Aldeburgh
The British Paraorchestra were invited to headline the prestigious Snape Proms to coincide with Suffolk's Paralympic Flame Festival on 25 August 2012 as part of Paralympics 2012.
Aldeburgh Music is unique in the British musical landscape, as an international performance centre with artist development at its heart. The Aldeburgh Festival and the year-round programme of events at Snape Maltings Concert Hall provide a place of inspiration for all creative artists at every stage of their education and career.
The British Paraorchestra's performance in August 2012 provided a vibrant backdrop for the Snape Proms and an opportunity to reach out to East Anglian audiences. Coinciding with Suffolk's Paralympic Flame Festival, it inspired the hearts and minds of local and regional people introducing an wonderfully diverse and eclectic mix of instruments and sounds.
'His (Hazelwood's) passionate belief in introducing and demystifying great music to the widest possible audience sees him having his own show on Radio 2 where his playlist jumps from Puccini to the Prodigy, Mozart to Massive Attack. '
Dan Whitfield, Artistic Director, Aldeburgh Music
