Paraorchestra and Friends announce new funding from Arts Council England
Today is a very special day. The Paraorchestra and Friends are pleased to confirm that we have been offered funding from Arts Council England for the next four years. Our organisation will be joining their national portfolio of organisations.
A massive thank you to Arts Council England, to all our musicians, to all our collaborators, partner venues, friends and supporters. We could not have done it without you.
The Paraorchestra and Friends are a National Portfolio Organisation!
We are delighted to hear today that our application to join Arts Council England’s National Portfolio 2018-22 has been successful.
Arts Council and, in particular, staff of the South West office have been hugely supportive of The Paraorchestra and Friends since the formation of the organisation. This four-year investment is therefore testament to a continued commitment in our work and will help us realise our vision of producing 21st century contemporary music experiences for The British Paraorchestra and our associated ensembles that span a range of genres and reach the widest possible audience.
With a record number of new and diverse organisations joining the portfolio from 2018, we are excited to form part of a changing cultural community that challenges perceptions of disability in society and removes barriers to music-making for disabled musicians.
Charles Hazlewood, Artistic Director of The Paraorchestra and Friends said,
"This is a major moment for our work, and the significance cannot be overestimated. Many more ambitious projects are in the pipeline, working with an array of superbly talented musicians and collaborators, alongside a wealth of partners who see the musical world as we do. And at the same time proving once and for all that disability is no barrier to talent."
Phil Gibby, Area Director, South West, Arts Council England, says:
“We are delighted to be welcoming Paraorchestra and Friends into the National Portfolio. They are an exemplary organisation championing inclusive music practice and we are proud to support them in their mission to showcase extraordinary musicians to even more people across the globe.”
